Rebecca Maurer is the former Chief Executive Officer of the Post Secondary Employers’ Association (PSEA), the employer bargaining agent for BC’s 19 public colleges, institutes, and special purpose teaching universities. As CEO, Rebecca transformed PSEA’s operations, ensuring that PSEA was both fulfilling its statutory mandate and meeting the needs of a diverse membership. She led PSEA through the Covid-19 pandemic, oversaw the development and execution of PSEA’s first-ever strategic plan, built a highly skilled and respected team and expanded services, resulting in significantly improved engagement and satisfaction among members.
Prior to joining PSEA, Rebecca was the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Douglas College. Both at Douglas and PSEA, Rebecca developed a reputation as a smart and thoughtful strategist and compassionate people leader.
Before joining the postsecondary sector, Rebecca spent 17 years at the Health Sciences Association of B.C., first as Director of Strategic Communications and later as Director of Human Resources & Operations. She has considerable governance experience having served on the boards of the Municipal Pension Plan, the New Westminster Police Department, Partners in the Horn of Africa, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation BC/Yukon Chapter, Planned Parenthood BC (now Options for Sexual Health) and Langara College.
Rebecca holds a B.A. in Communications from Simon Fraser University, completed both the Human Resources Management and Public Sector Leadership programs though Queen’s University, and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).
